What’s the Secret to Crystal-Clear VoIP Calls?

Do problems like call echoes and latency have you longing for the old days with your landline telephone? Are you ready to rid yourself of your VoIP phone system because you just can’t get a clear signal?

If this is the case, don’t do it; that is, do not reinstall your PSTN, as that would be a step in the wrong direction. Consider the fact that when a problem arises on a landline telephone–like when a tree falls on your outside wires—it can take hours or even days before the problem is restored. But when something goes wrong during a VoIP call, it means there is a problem occurring on your network. And with the right network troubleshooting software, fixing it can take a matter of minutes.

Suppose, for instance, you are experiencing long audio delays during your VoIP calls, a process that is commonly referred to as “jitter.” It happens when the small IP packets that are carrying your voice signals get stuck in a buffering router, or in a network bottleneck due to heavy traffic. And since the packets need to arrive at the same time to be decoded and transformed into a voice signal, this results in a delay. A network troubleshooting solution from PathSolutions will give you the ability to continuously scan your network for packet delay and detect it before it becomes noticeable to end users.
