About HPDisplay utility

HPDisplay is a command line utility for changing the default "Ready"
message on HP LaserJet printers equipped with a JetDirect network
interface.  This can be useful to display the company name, printer
name, or print queue that is associated with the printer.

Installing the HPDisplay utility
--------------------------------
The HPDisplay utility can be copied into the WINNT directory to
insure that it is included in the command path.  There are no other
files or executables that need to be copied or installed.

To remove the product, simply delete the utility.

Using the HPDisplay utility
---------------------------

HPDisplay is a command-line utility (console application).

If you run the program without any parameters, the help screen will
be displayed:

    A program to program an HP printer's display.

  Usage:  HPDISPLAY targetprinter "message"

          targetprinter = IP address or DNS name of printer to change
          message = Message to display on the printer's control panel

Usage examples:

  HPDISPLAY 192.168.1.3 "NetLatency"
	Changes the printer at 192.168.1.3 to display "NetLatency" instead
	of "Ready"

  HPDISPLAY 10.0.2.12 "\\PANTHER\QUEUE1"
	Changes the printer at 10.0.2.12 to display the queue name
	"\\PANTHER\QUEUE1"


Notes

HP Printers can display up to 16 characters in the display area (32 on HP5si).
